Is Your Social Media Ready for the Public?

Is Your Social Media Ready for the Public?Lots of information can be found on the web. What do you want your store to portray? Is your social media ready for the public eye? Here are a few things that you should look over before putting yourself out there.

What

Your store has a brand. Not only does it have a logo, but it has a personality. Showing your personality off online is one of the many ways to catch the attention of your customers. What does your company stand for? Let your values shine, and promote them as you show off your store online.

A few things that customers look for when they’re searching for your company include credibility and reliability. Give them a professional picture of yourself (No vacation beach photos. Remember, the internet has a very long memory!), both a short and long biography, and consistent names on every site you use. Market yourself and your business consistently and professionally.

Where

Ignoring social media can really hamper your reach. There are many benefits that you’re missing out on if you ignore the internet – there are thousands of people that spend their time online. Don’t miss out on the potential for customer interaction!

Many people look for their favorite brands online. Promote your store through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or whichever social media site you’d like to join.

Your store can advertise to crowds just by joining Facebook and Twitter! If you’re wondering how to get started on Facebook, learn more about it here.

Blogging

It might sound difficult, but blogging is a great way to get people to check out your store. If you go out of your way to post excellent content and do your research, you’ll find people subscribing to your blog. The more subscribers you have, the wider your range of influence.

You may not be experienced in blogging, but no one says you have to be. Just start. You’ll find your skill growing as you write. The more articles you produce, the better you’ll become. It’s a learn-while-you-go sort of thing. A hint, though: grammar and spelling really make a difference! Be sure to run a spell check and read your article out loud to find any mistakes.

Lots of research and well-crafted articles will really bring people to hear what you have to say. The best part is: you can write about nearly anything! It doesn’t always have to be about your store, but it can be about almost anything. Google “interesting blog ideas” and see what catches your eye. You may not use the topics, but they might inspire you.

An extra tip: use lots of pictures. People like looking at pretty things! Be sure to get them from a free site. You don’t want to get stuck with legal issues for stealing pictures off of Google image search.

Website

A blog is a great place to start. Another excellent idea for your store is to set up a personal website. Then you can promote you social media, and also promote your business. This is a good place to talk about your store’s projects, or your store. Take a look at other stores’ blogs to see what they’re posting! If you do what the big boys do, chances are you’ll find some inspiration.

An extra tip: go the extra mile and buy your own domain name. This makes your site appear more professional and easy to find. It will cost you a few extra dollars, but it will be worth it in the end. Also, be sure to create a professional-sounding email account. It would be horrible if your email address was talking about kittens and sprinkles! Be sure it sounds professional.

Be Presentable

Start using social media to promote your store! Let your store’s personality and store become well-known, and advertise to a wider crowd. Make sure your information is ready for the public eye.
